Who is Kim Alvarstein?

Hello, I’m Kim! A procurement expert and a sourcing specialist who has spent my career building sourcing structures that are strategic, measurable, and built to scale.

I earned an MSc in Operations and Supply Chain Management from the University of Liverpool, focusing heavily on procurement strategy and operational efficiency. The program shaped my thinking as a supply chain professional and strengthened my analytical approach to procurement. I later became MCIPS-certified, a credential that helped shape the disciplined, structured approach I bring to procurement today.

Over the years, I have led global sourcing initiatives in FMCG and renewable energy which are industries where supplier relationships directly influence business outcomes. My work has involved building supplier strategies from the ground up, guiding cross-functional teams through complex negotiations, and driving digital procurement transformation programs that brought transparency to sourcing decisions and strengthened supply chain risk management.

Rather than viewing procurement as a function that reacts to demand, I see it as a function that shapes demand where supplier collaboration, data, and strategy unlock new opportunities for growth and resilience in line with global supply chain trends 2025.

My expertise spans:

  • Digital procurement & systems modernization
  • Category strategy and operational excellence
  • Supplier assessment, negotiation, and performance improvement
  • ESG in procurement and responsible supply chain practices

What always motivates me is the transformation. Digitalization is a key part of how I work, particularly when leading transformation programs that modernize tools and processes. In that context, I’ve earned a reputation as a digital procurement transformation expert.

Procurement has the unique ability to influence cost, sustainability, speed to market, and resilience. When you elevate procurement to a strategic level, you empower companies to grow smarter rather than just cheaper.
