Who is Hans Furuseth?

Hello, I’m Hans! The founder and CEO of Torg.

My professional journey began as a management consultant at Bain & Company, where I learned how private labels can be a strategic growth lever for retailers. It wasn’t just about reducing costs as private label products could drive profitability and differentiation. That perspective shaped how I think about sourcing and stayed with me as I moved into operating roles.

After Bain, I moved into fast-paced, high-growth environments such as Zalando and Rocket Internet, where I learned how digital businesses scale across markets and how speed of execution drives competitive advantage.

Later, I joined Farmasiet (Norway’s largest online pharmacy), where scaling our private-label assortment became one of my core initiatives. I sourced products and suppliers end-to-end, which became my hands-on entry into procurement. That’s also where I saw how much strategic sourcing and supplier management directly influence growth.

Despite having an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Master’s in Finance from the Norwegian School of Economics, nothing prepared me for how unnecessarily manual product sourcing was. Even at scale, the process looked like this:

  • Endless Google searching
  • Email chains with suppliers
  • Trade fairs that required travel and weeks of follow-up

It was fragmented, inefficient, and opaque, especially for companies trying to launch new products with speed and manage supply chain risk management effectively.

That pain point led me to build Torg, a SaaS-enabled sourcing marketplace where retailers, wholesalers, D2C brands, and food service companies connect with thousands of verified food and FMCG manufacturers. Instead of hunting for suppliers, businesses get transparency with product specs, pricing, lead times, and certifications all in one place.

I believe sourcing shouldn't be a guessing game. It should be a strategic advantage aligned with global supply chain trends, automation, and digitization.

With experience across e-commerce, private-label sourcing, and supply chain digitalization, I focus on:

  • Private label sourcing and negotiation
  • Digital workflows that shorten the path from idea to shelf

As a contributor to procurement and supply chain, I do enjoy writing about procurement trends and insights, especially in the context of supply chain technology. I am also an author of supply chain technology and innovation topics, sharing what I’ve learned about building smarter, data-driven sourcing systems.

Torg exists because sourcing should be faster, clearer, and a lot less stressful.
